Hi, I’m Karen, and I’m so glad you’re here!

Starting a quilting business has been an exciting new chapter for me, and starting a blog feels like one more step in the adventure. So, for my very first post, I thought I’d introduce myself, tell you a little about PK Quilt Works, and share what you can expect to find here.

So, Who Is PK?

First things first—PK is me!

The name actually started as a nickname. A friend began calling me PK, short for “Purple Karen,” to distinguish me from another Karen in our friend group. Since purple happens to be my favorite color, the name stuck. When it came time to name my quilting business, incorporating PK just felt right.

And so, PK Quilt Works was born. 💜

My Quilting Story

I’ve been quilting for about 15 years, and there are so many things I love about the process.

But if I had to choose a favorite part, it might surprise you.

It's laying out the blocks.

I love that moment when you finally put all those individual blocks together and get your first real glimpse of what the finished quilt is going to look like. You can move things around, play with the arrangement, and suddenly all those separate pieces start becoming a quilt.

About a year ago, I added longarm quilting to my quilting journey. I quickly discovered how much I enjoy that part of the process too—especially seeing how the right quilting design adds texture and movement and transforms a finished quilt top into something even more special.

That love of quilting eventually led me here.

Helping You Get to “Finished”

As quilters, I think we all know that making the quilt top and actually having a finished quilt can sometimes be two very different things!

That's where I hope PK Quilt Works can help.

I offer digital edge-to-edge longarm quilting, and my goal is to help you choose a quilting design and thread that complement all the work you've already put into your quilt.

Sometimes that means finding the perfect flowing meander. Sometimes a quilt is begging for beautiful, dense texture. And sometimes?

Done is best.

Not every quilt needs to be complicated. Some quilts are meant to be snuggled under, dragged around by a grandchild, given to someone we love, washed a hundred times, and simply enjoyed.

Those quilts deserve to be finished too.

When I’m Not Quilting...

PK Quilt Works isn't my only job. By day, I'm a full-time special education teacher teaching high school algebra.

Apparently, I have a thing for figuring out how pieces fit together—whether they're quilt blocks or equations!

I'm also a mom to four and grandma to five, so there is rarely a shortage of activity in my life.

Quilting is my creative outlet, and I'm excited to have this little corner of the internet where I can share more of it with you.

What You'll Find Here

I want this blog to be a place where we can talk about quilting without taking ourselves too seriously.

I'll share quilts I'm working on, longarm quilting projects, pantograph and thread choices, tips I've learned along the way, behind-the-scenes peeks at PK Quilt Works, and probably a few quilting successes—and mistakes!

Most importantly, I hope this becomes a place that celebrates actually enjoying quilting.

Your points don't have to match perfectly. Not every quilt has to be an heirloom. And sometimes that fabric you absolutely loved in the store looks completely different once you get it home.

Ask me how I know. 😉

We're all learning.

Let’s Get Some Quilts Finished!

If you've got a quilt top waiting patiently—or maybe not so patiently—to become a finished quilt, I'd love the opportunity to quilt it for you.

Take a look around, browse the available quilting designs, or click Book a Quilt when you're ready.

And whether you're here because you're looking for a longarm quilter or you simply love quilts as much as I do, I'm glad you found PK Quilt Works.

Here's to beautiful fabric, imperfect points, plenty of purple, and getting those quilts finished! 💜

Happy quilting!

Karen
